COOPER STEEL NASHVILLE
Mathias Collective provides ongoing Owner’s Representation and Design Direction for the Cooper family. Our initial engagment was the 18,000 square foot, new construction, class A office space on Music Row for Cooper Steel's Nashville operation. This project is critical to the Cooper Steel vision, as it offers the prime opportunity for this generation of leadership to convey their unique culture, focused on Southern hospitality and family.
Previously, the Cooper Steel team was housed in three separate buildings in midtown Nashville. In order to faciliate connection, they often organized lunch outings to bring the company together. Ultimately, the entire workplace strategy for the reimagined Nashville office focused on faciliating a variety of planned and happenstance interactions throughout the space. The design team for the new office, consisting of Zinc Architecture and Design Object, responded to this need for connection by orienting all departments around a central café. The design ethos is reminiscent of local hotels and restaurants, which deviates from the conventional corporate break room tropes. Cooper Steel Nashville sets the stage for the next generation of this family business.
